The Alabaster Box

As Resurrection Day (Easter) draws closer, I think back to the Biblical account of Mary and her Alabaster box, washing the feet of Jesus in Simon the Leper's home.
In this account, Mary took all she had to give and poured it upon Jesus' feet, while others gathered and were indignant of her act of worship and adoration, and despite what was thought or said around her, she continued to pour out all she had for the Lord.
Matthew 26:
Jesus Anointed at Bethany
While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor."
Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."
Many can relate to Mary: You make a commitment to the Lord, pouring out all your love and adoration for Christ, and you find that there are those around you who proclaim Christ and yet are indigent towards your commitment.
I know we like to think it is just the worldly non-believer who is indigent, but no my friend, there are those inside the Body of Christ whom will turn, because of your devotion and love.
My message to you is this: Keep pouring out your love for Him (Jesus), because that is exactly what He did on the Cross for you and me. He poured out all His love and adoration for us. He knows the love and commitment you hold in your Alabaster box - pour it out to Him, for He is worthy to be praised.
Proverbs 3 : 3-4:
Let Love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of the God and man.
Happy Resurrection Day!
