A Famine

By Claudette on Nov 19, 2009 | In Claudette - Reaching Out | Send feedback »

A few nights ago I had a dream of one of my classmates (from my former high school years) sitting next to me outside, somewhere in the town I now live. In this dream my classmate would not look at me, all he kept doing was eating potatoe chips repeatedly without stopping. Suddenly, a young girl comes up to me and says, “The money is for the famine,” at this point I was looking down and began putting handfuls of coins in my purse, while my classmate still kept on eating chips.
I then heard a voice saying, “There is going to be a famine! The money is for the famine!” I then awoke from the dream.

I cannot say for sure if this was a warning of what is to come, but I do know the Lord speaks to us through dreams.

Job 33 NIV

For God does speak—now one way, now another—
though man may not perceive it.
In a dream, in a vision of the night,
when deep sleep falls on men
as they slumber in their beds,
he may speak in their ears
       and terrify them with warnings,
  to turn man from wrongdoing
       and keep him from pride,
to preserve his soul from the pit,
his life from perishing by the sword.

I know the times we are living in can easily give a person the feeling of uncertainty, but we also need to remember that the Lord supplies all of our needs, even in the most difficult times.

I ask you today - Is Jesus your source? I pray so.

The Lord was Joseph’s source, and besides all the surmounting circumstances facing him, the Land of Egypt was saved, along with his own people.

The Lord delivered Joseph, Egypt, and Joseph’s own people from the famine’s grasp.

The whole world came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, since the famine was so severe all over the world. Genesis 41:57

Maybe the Lord is preparing you to help a Nation, Church or Neighbor facing uncertainty.

These are times when we must learn to lean on the Lord and draw strength from Him.
Remember, David said he never saw the righteous begging bread.

I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
       or their children begging bread.
Psalms 37
