A Famine Part II
By Claudette on Dec 6, 2009 | In Claudette - Reaching Out
The other morning, while I was in Prayer, the Lord prompted me to turn to Jeremiah 14, and as I began to read the passage’s title – “Drought, Famine, and Sword,” I knew it was not going to be an ear tickling doctrine, in fact just the words, “Drought, Famine and Sword” conveys a serious message.
In Chapter 14 of Jeremiah, we find that Jeremiah was to sound the alarm and tell the people what was about to come upon them.
In last month’s post “A Famine” I wrote that God does indeed warn us of what is to come. I believe this is an alarm that I must sound!
I know many will think, “Oh… another doom sayer,” and I do not think of myself as another doom sayer, but I do consider myself a messenger of the Lord, and as such, I take this warning very seriously.
As I read Jeremiah 14, it confirmed to me what the Lord gave me in a dream last month (November 2009).
Many of us desire to listen to the ear tickling prophets speaking messages full of prosperity, and why not, since so many people are tied to false gods of self indulgence, but the real question remains: How will we know when the real prophets are speaking? Unfortunately, we don’t take heed to a real prophetic word until things get bad, and we find it’s too late.
How as a people of God do we take heed to the warning? By true repentance from the heart and turning back to the God that assures us that when we turn from wickedness, He will hear us and heal our land.
My people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
I am sounding the alarm to tell you what the Lord is telling me. I am sorry it is not the “Greatest Revelation for 2010,” that most are writing about now, and no I do not have a specific date and time, but I do know that if we His people will get are minds off "Our little gods of self," and refocus on the Hope of Glory -- Jesus Christ, then we will be spared.
O Lord, we acknowledge our wickedness
and the guilt of our fathers;
we have indeed sinned against you.
For the sake of your name do not despise us;
do not dishonor your glorious throne.
Remember your covenant with us
and do not break it.
Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain?
Do the skies themselves send down showers?
No, it is you, O Lord our God.
Therefore our hope is in you,
for you are the one who does all this. Jeremiah 14:20-22
