Crossing The Finish Line
By Claudette on Sep 1, 2009 | In Claudette - Reaching Out
The Lord our God deals with us in times and seasons, and though we are heading into September 2009, last September 2008, early in the morning I heard the words “The year of the turtle.” Upon hearing this, I got up and went researching and found that the Sages say the turtle is a meek wise creature, however, I knew the words “The year of the turtle” meant more then this, so I placed it in the back of my mind until it was time to be revealed.
When I was visiting a family member in the hospital this Spring, I over heard the nurse talking with a gentlemen next to us, she said “Did you ever read the story about the Tortoise and the Hare?” She went on to tell the gentlemen it was the tortoise that made it, and I knew the Lord was given me a little tidbit of revelation.
The Lord speaks to us through all of His creation, we just have to keep tuned into His awesome ways.
The year of the turtle meant it was going to be slow, with delays, and it would feel monotonous, and things would not move like the hare (fast). Many in the Body of Christ have been experiencing this slow progression forward, but like a turtle who does not look anxious for anything, we are also not to be anxious for anything.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 NIV
With this idea the saying, “Only fools rush in” comes to my mind. Sometimes we want things to come together fast like the speed of a hare, don’t get me wrong, things suddenly coming together is of the Lord, however, there are times when we must lay down Self, and allow Him (Jesus) to slowly build in us a steadfast patient character.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV
In closing, just this week I was visiting with a friend and she was going through some papers, when all of a sudden she says out loud “Crossing the finish line!” And there again was the Lord giving me another tidbit. The tortoise crossed the finish line in the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, and many are crossing the finish line in the Body of Christ.
This last twelve month season has been long, stretching, slow, monotonous, and in Jesus' name it is officially over.
The Lord is very proud of you, you who have fought the good fight of faith, and you are now exactly where the Lord needs you be, Praise Him! You have finished this season’s race, and are now prepared to go forward in Victory, into all the Lord has for you.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 NIV
Blessings,
