Sometimes, He Requires Inconvenience
By Claudette on Apr 22, 2009 | In Claudette - Reaching Out
Have you ever heard the words ?Sometimes, He requires Inconvenience? spoken to you?
I have, and after hearing it, I had to go and do something I did not feel like doing at the time.
The Scriptures tell us He is not a God of heavy burdens, and will not place more on us than we can handle, even though sometimes it might not seem that way.
Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 God's Word Translation
However, from time to time Jesus might interrupt your plans, saying to you ?Sometimes, Inconvenience is required.?
I recall an Evening, when our family had planned a family night together. For this particular family night, we were going to watch a movie together in our pajamas and munch on popcorn, but the Lord had other plans for us and directed us to go to a small Revival service to worship with our Family of God. It turned out that the children didn't miss anything, because while the service took place upstairs, there was a children's night happening downstairs, giving them the opportunity to play, eat cake, ice cream, and popcorn, along with watching a faith based children's movie. We all left the service filled and refreshed.
Sometimes these inconveniences are rewarding, and sometimes they are challenging, and I have experienced both.
The Book of Jonah gives us a good example of this, even though it?s a short book in the Bible, it carries a big message within it stating, ?Sometimes, He requires Inconvenience.?
In the account of Jonah, Jonah felt challenged by what the Lord asked him to do, and it compelled him to try and run from God's presence, landing him in a big fish's mouth, heading to the place the Lord asked him to go in the first place.
The Lord had called and prepared Jonah, knowing that Jonah was the right man for the Nineveh mission. Sometimes Inconvenience is required, because you?re the only one who can complete the mission.
Jonah completed the mission, despite his anger and frustration with the salvation of the Nineveh people. With Jonah's anger towards Nineveh, the Lord spoke to him saying.
But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city? Jonah 4:11 New International Version
The Lord asks us to obey His leading, despite what we may think, or how it might inconvenience us. The mission for Christ will always be ?His Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.?
Jesus has a mission for each one of us, and whatever that mission is, you can be sure that there will be times of inconvenience, but also be rest-assured He will reward those who are obedient to His leading.
You know that your real master will give you an inheritance as your reward. It is Christ, your real master, whom you are serving. Colossians 3:24 God?s Word Translation
