What Light?
By Claudette on Dec 29, 2008 | In Claudette - Reaching Out
There are many lights in this world...
We have Lighthouses that sit on a lone hill guiding ships into port, we have the Christmas lights that hang on the doorways and rooftops of our homes highlighting the Christmas season, and we have the light bulb to help get us from room to room in the dark. However, my message is going to be on different kinds of lights radiating inside the Global church.
Through witnessing and experience I have found three kinds of lights.
The First is - The Beacon of Light:
These individuals have the light of Christ radiating from them and they are like the light on the lone hill. They are beacons of light resulting from an absolute relationship with Christ, they delight in the Law of the Lord (His word), and they diligently seek Him with all their heart. Their focus is Christ centered, reaching out and being a light in a dark world.
Matthew 5 : 14 NIV:
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden."
John 8 : 12 NIV:
The Validity of Jesus' Testimony
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
The Second light is - The Bug Light:
The bug lights can also be found inside the Church, their lights are not bright, and you know them by their ungodly chatter. They accuse, point fingers, and lie to bring about strife. These bug lights are the ones the Church has gotten good at sweeping under the rug.
Proverbs 6 : 19 NASB:
A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers
The Lord does not care for dissension among the brethren, in fact, the Scriptures read that He detests it.
Proverbs 6 : 16-19 NIV:
There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
Proverbs 16 : 28 NIV:
A perverse man stirs up dissension,
and a gossip separates close friends.
Proverbs 20 : 19 NIV:
A gossip betrays a confidence;
so avoid a man who talks too much.
Timothy 5 : 13 NIV:
Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things they ought not to.
Like I said before, the Church is really good at sweeping it under the rug, the excuse is, ?God will take care of it all when He returns, or well, you know it has always been this way.?
The Biblical scriptures I read tell me God is coming back for a Bride, not a bug.
The Third light is - The Beer Light:
The Beer Light is also inside the Church, this kind of light does not have a shine.
Beer Lights are what I call undercover Believers, they order their Buffalo wings and beer with the notion of, ?Well, our server does not know I am a Believer,? forgetting that the Angel of the Lord is standing over them and is well aware of their order.
The Church is really good at thinking God is not all knowing. God always sees what we put first in our life, especially our orders.
I know there is a lot of theology teaching on the subject of drinking, and personally, I am not going to get into a debate. All I can say is, I spent time in the bars drinking it up before I was Saved. I recall one night sitting in the bar thinking, ?There has to be more to life than this,? and one thing I do know for sure, is the light of the Lord is not in a bottle.
Below, I provide scriptures about what is said in the Bible about Beer Lights in the Church.
The things I do know about Beer Lights are:
1) They lose Blessings, and
2) They lose Witness.
The Biblical scriptures speak for themselves.
Isaiah 5 : 22 - Woe to "champion" drinkers and "experts" at mixing drinks.
Romans 13 : 13 NIV - Let's behave decently, as people who live in the light of day. No wild parties, drunkenness, sexual immorality, promiscuity, quarreling, or jealousy!
Leviticus 10 : 9-11 NIV - "You and your sons are not to drink wine or other fermented drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You must distinguish between the holy and the common, between the unclean and the clean, and you must teach the Israelites all the decrees the LORD has given them through Moses.
Romans 14 : 21 NIV - It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to fall.
Ephesians 5:18 NIV - Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
1 Peter 4 : 3-4 NIV - For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do?living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.
The Word of God declares, He will return for His Bride - The Church, and will be returning for the ones who are without spot or wrinkle.
The time is at hand Church, the Lord is going to start cleaning house and believe me, if you do not start doing your part, He will clean it for you, and like the Word says, if Judgment starts in the Church first, what will it be for the world.
1 Peter 4 : 17 NASB:
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
You can sugar coat Christ all you want, but let me tell you, He is a just God, and He will judge complacency and lack among the Body before His return.
Luke 12 : 51 NASB:
Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division!
The Bride (the Body of Christ) is far from ready for His return. Cleaning must begin now!
Romans 12 : 2 NASB:
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
What light are you?
Blessings,
