In The Midst Of An Election
By Claudette on Sep 15, 2008 | In Claudette - Reaching Out
Election 2008 is upon us, and within days, we will be casting our vote for the next President of the United States.
In November, the people of this great country will take their Burdens of Reform to the voting pole, looking towards the best candidate that will change, the Economic Outlook, the safety inside our boarders, and the moral degradation of Society.
We often tune into the nightly news to hear the debates, and listen to others talk about how they dislike one candidate over the other, or how they think one man in office is the cause of all the Nation’s problems, and through all this, I know that God is not oblivious to what is happening.
The Word of God gives us direction on persevering through it all, and that way is through Prayer.
It is important as a Nation to pray for our leaders, despite if the one in Office is not to our liking. God appoints all leaders for a time, we might not always understand the Why, of who is in Office, but as Believers in the Word of God, we can be sure that if we pray for our leaders, instead of cursing them, that God can change the heart of that man or woman.
Daniel 2:21 Amplified Bible:
He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding!
Personally, I know to go and cast my vote, and vote I will do, however, I also know, through the Word of God, that the Lord determines the final outcome.
This year, the Mantle passes on again, and soon we will know the leader of our country for the next four years. Moreover, no matter who receives the Mantle this election year, disliking the candidate who wins will not change them, and most of all, will not help you – A point to ponder. Yet, taking the time to pray, and ask the Lord to give that person the wisdom to lead us, the people of the United States of America, will help open the door to reform.
Exodus 22:28 New American Standard Bible:
You shall not curse God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
The one thing I cannot stress enough in this message is that we need to pray and ask God to help our leaders, because cursing our leaders curse us.
Matthew 15:11:
What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.'
There is wisdom in watching how we speak.
1 Timothy 2:1-3:
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
If you are still undecided about whom to vote for, can I urge you to pray, and ask the Lord to guide you in wisdom and truth when casting your vote this election; looking to the Word of God for guidance?
The Lord gives us many scriptures on what we should stand for, as a nation under God.
Blessings,
