Please Stay Awake for ME.

Intercession Defined: an interposing or pleading on behalf of another person. a prayer to God on behalf of another.

In Matthew 26:35-46, we see that even Jesus needed intercession; he took three of HIS disciples to go and pray with him.

The Garden of Gethsemane

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.”

And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.” Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. Then He came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Get up, let us be going; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!” Matthew 26:36-46

The garden of Gethsemane is a pressing place it’s where the olives grew, and when at their peak they were picked than pressed, or better said crushed for their oil.

Jesus faced this heavy burden, in which we will also experience a Gethsemane moment.  In the pressing place when you’re alone and in travail that is when the oil flows.  A pressure that is so pressing that you’re asking those close to you to “please stay awake for me”, but yet there you are alone in the pressing room.

I have experienced this pressing place, and I know what it is to ask those to intercede with you, but there non responsive, let me tell you it’s ok, for there is one who constantly intercedes for us.  Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane, and went forth unto the cross knowing that when you have your Gethsemane moment you won’t have to ask someone “please stay awake for me” Jesus is there for you 24/7 he is the oil that flows from you in your time of pressing.

who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.  Romans 8:34

May I encourage you press into HIM with travail, you don’t need it to be bad, for the Lord to turn it for your good, all you have to do is press in HE is there for you interceding for you right now.

Blessings,

Claudette Moss
