Today, we face much uncertainty with the Financial Markets of the world failing, but we must remember that this is going to happen, and must happen for the Church Age to end...
Jesus spoke of world events in the days right before He returned (The catching away - the Rapture of the Church, and His Second coming.) and offered these signs to indicate the time frame.
Luke 21 : 25-28 NKJV says:
25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
Mark 13 : 5-8 NIV says:
5 Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
Mark's writings from Mark 13 : 9-25 on the Tribulation period are excluded here.
Right after Mark writes of the “Period of Great Distress,” he returns to write further about the time period leading up to the Tribulation period, continuing on with the following scriptures.
26 "At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
28 "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. 30 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
1 Thessalonians 4 : 13-18 AMP says:
15 For this we declare to you by the Lord's [own] word, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall in no way precede [into His presence] or have any advantage at all over those who have previously fallen asleep [in Him in death].
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!
We can see from these above passages of scripture that as chaos manifests itself throughout all of the Earth, God has already written, through His vessels, into scripture, a map of what is happening today and His Saving Plan for us.
I remember once hearing someone say, “The more chaos we see taking place around us, the more we can know that God is in control.” How true this is today!
When I look at the scriptures above, I see today's headlines:
- A point 7 magnitude earthquake hits a remote island in Asia.
- Tsunami fears building.
- World Financial Markets crumbling.
- Could a comet hit Earth?
- Countries warring with other countries.
These issues dominate our News, determine our Leaders, and our outlook on life, but know there is hope and Salvation in Jesus. For a believer in Christ...the peace of Jesus reigns in the midst of uncertainty.
Philippians 4 : 7 NIV says:
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
If you do not know the peace of Jesus, you can know right now where you sit, pray this prayer:
"Lord Jesus, please come into my heart, help me, give me a peace within, and forgive me of my sins. I accept the pardon you gave me on the Cross, and I reach out now in prayer, asking You for wisdom to help guide me throughout my life and each of my days."
Blessings,
Christopher Moss
